FWIW, four battery bombed IIci/IIcx boards sold on eBay in the past month for around $15-$25 each so certainly a good way to harvest the Apple proprietary chips.

@billbucks That seems to me to be a reasonably good solution. In the worst case where the replacement chip doesn't solve your problem, you're not out too much money and you'd technically have some other spare parts too.

That's a good advice, I will check on the various site incl ebay bit I doubt I'll find any...
I finally managed to solder the SWIM chip pins as discussed (see photo) but that didn't fix the issue. I'm still getting the horizontal lines.

I used my digital multimeter to test the capacitors on the motherboard. Some of them don't have the expected value e.g. 1.3mF for a 47µF so I guess I have to desolder them from the motherboard to check if they need to be replaced.
