Oh, I forgot to mention that my iBook G4 has a combo 8x DVD/CDRW drive. @rjkucia's PowerBook G4 probably has a SuperDrive. No worries either can be upgraded to a SuperDrive from the combo. 🙂

Next, upgrade from 30 GB IDE PATA HDD to mSATA SSD in my iBook G4. I started following this guide:

Then I realized I really need spudgers! 😄

Time to get a more convenient computer tool kit for SMALLER screws, anyway. I had been getting by, barely. It's not the same as the 68k Macs. :ROFLMAO:

OWC, here I come! 🤓

Yes, spudgers are 100% a must here! Hopefully the plastic is easier to work with. On mine, the sharp aluminum edges took a number on my spudgers.

I used the IFixIt 64 piece Mako kit, but screws here were the easy part. At least they only use two types of heads!

Hi , Did you ever get the PowerBook 12" to boot into OS9? I have a 1.5 Model...
Yes. Of course...

Install OS X - 10.5.8 or 10.5.9 - as you like.
Install Mac OS 9 or copy a preinstalled System Folder to the root of the drive. Side by the typical Mac OS X folders.

Use this command line to boot into Mac OS 9 from Mac OS X:
bless --folder9 "/Volumes/MacSSD/System Folder" --use9

Pay attention to write the correct path to the System Folder!

I created a script, attached in the ZIP file.
