AFAIK, wire wrap was used and may still be used in the Aviation Industry, it's far more robust and reliable than soldered PCBs.

Wire wrap may be alive an well, but my favored tool came from Radio Shack, and they're long gone -- I think. Haven't checked for a lingering on-line presence in a while.

My CrapShack tool is the silver one in that link with the stripper stored in the handle. Pretty sure it's somewhere around here, but I much prefer the one piece stripper/wrap/unwrap tool.

edit: probably can't get to the soldering until MON/TUE off. Inward riser arrived, the three cards will be vertically oriented. No good for a drawer, but great for my BenchMac/TestBed lashup.

Yep, that's the one I have. I just really love having the stripper conveniently stored in the handle...

Well in the thread with the 9600 schematic (and 6500 schematic) that joevt referenced above, I posted my thoughts. I concluded that you can probably just solder the chips I have in place of the existing chips, (matching pinouts) but the question is then exactly what you asked.
Hey @trag Are you into computer project phase again? If not, have you got enough chips available for me to try my hand at hot air rework? ;)

Still in yard work mode, although when I posted that in Sept. I wasn't getting a lot done. Did more a few weeks ago until we settled into deep freeze for a week. I've been weak for a couple of years. Don't know if I convalesced too long after lung pudding/covid and knee surgery in 2022, or if this is some kind of long Covid effect (don't know if I have Long, reading internet, don't think doctors know anything either, but weakness is a possible symptom). In any case, doing a couple of hours of yard work a day when it's not sub freezing is helping a lot. But that's about all I'm good for. Sigh. I used to do 12 hours of yard work, and be tired, but got it done.

Anyway, you're welcome to the chips, if I can lay hands on them. The attic ladder is busted, but I brought a bunch of stuff down before. I need to check what's downstairs. I certainly have enough. According to inventory I have 2000 of them and they're in Box 38 in section AB of the attic. Or downstairs somewhere. Did a great job creating inventory; terrible job keeping it updated.

I have the lumber to rebuild the attic ladder...

Sorry to hear about being stuck in yard work mode with deficit in energy handicap, hoping better for you.

I'm jealous of your inventory system, mine's just picture of contents of color coded boxes, numbered heavy duty small moving boxes and standardized shipping display boxes with removable lids. Gotta update it too . . .

No hurry at all, my soldering/rework setup is in piled over with misc. project crap mode for a bit.

Kind of you. I think regular work outs is the way forward. I'm used to being able to step out the door and just run 4 miles without giving it a lot of thought, so current condition is weird, but perhaps inevitable given weight gain, age and intense sedentary desk jobs.

When I was much younger, I accumulated enough stuff in the attic that I could no longer always find it or even remember what I already had. Do I really need another JackHammer card?

So I lugged it all back down and made a big mess out of the living room for a few weeks. With everything getting entered into inventory as it went into numbered boxes. Handwriting cramps... Assigned each space between rafters a letter code, and recorded it all.

The problem now days is if I move something or remove it and never note it down...

Please do not hesitate to ping me if I forget. I will not be offended.
