I'm delighted this work is being done and I appreciate you doing it, though I'm a little torn about this. While it's entirely possible Apple was working with a modified NT4 for the ANS, it is more likely they ran real NT4 with extra files provided separately.

The MaciNTosh project does it the way it likely would have shipped, using a separate media to load VENEER and kickstart NT and then provide the HAL and required drivers (which that project does via a RAM disk available to the installer). That project uses a CD for this mostly because the initial supported machines didn't have a floppy. A period NT 4.0 install for Shiner (or any PPC Mac) would use the stock NT 4.0 PPC CD with a boot floppy and a driver floppy just like a stock x86 install would have.

@PappaDF Thank you for the latest info! I'm going to get started with the project here again soon with all the new work and share the tool data on real hardware.

I also agree that we should probably try to stay with an unmodified cd and continue with a modified HAL and VENEER.exe
