Bourns Again - Bourns 601 Series RC Network T-Filters Replacement

Yeah I really hate that too. I committed the sin by being in a rush to put the repo up and not specifying 😓 Actually I did choose the specific parts in the BOM and most manufacturers allow you to specify or supply the specific parts. For the JLCPCB BOM that I supplies, the part number is the...

Bourns Again - Bourns 601 Series RC Network T-Filters Replacement

Morning JDW, The release files (gerbers, bom, component placement, panelization) I added to the git repo were actually made for JLCPCB with EasyEDA. I should have been more explicit about that in my repo's README that it's Gear Towards JLCPCB. I did a quick look at the Kicad 5 settings...

Bourns Again - Bourns 601 Series RC Network T-Filters Replacement

Hey alasdairrr, That's actually normal for panelized PCBs. The gerbers don't actually duplicate the whole PCB but provide the instructions on how to duplicate a single PCB into a panel. Here's the past order that I did for 5 panels of 24 filters. As highlighted on the image, they do...

iBook Clamshell Vinegar syndrome LCD repair

That's a very specialized repair that very few people do. Glad you decided to try and wrote about it! From what I understand it's more of problem in hot and humid climates so I don't really see that in Canada. There's a great video about this problem on YouTube: Vinegar Syndrome, a disease...

If you're interested can probably modify the reference design of the shield model I made so your card would have a backplate: https://github.com/alxlab-zone66x/Reference_Design_Library/tree/main/Connector%20Shield%20for%20Macintosh%20II-Family%20Computer

    Reimplementing the Mac SE's BBU

I was just thinking that at some point when you start replacing/overriding so much like this: you're probably better off just making a new mainboard lol. I was actually thinking it would be cool to just modify Kai's SE Reloaded board to have a single 72-pin ram slot and replace all the...

T15 Torx Screwdriver for Compact Macs

Yeah I do the same thing. I use a generic Chinese precision screw driver set since the bit holder is telescopic. Think I paid roughly $10-$15 CAD for it like 10 years ago. The socket bits in any of these kits are also very useful for putting back mac floppy drive plastic retention rings as well.

    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

Yeah putting a hole in the case is one way to fix the height issue. I messure the clearance on mine and realistically you could fix a heatsink and fan is the total height is 15mm or less. This a good example where a heatsink would be ideal if it put the heatsink directly above the case fan. I...

Yeah heatsink and fan size can really vary depending what model computer you planning to use. Think I can fit a really tall heatsink and fan in an LC 630 no problem, but less so in a Color Classic and even less in the LC 475. I did find some copper heatsinks that might work for you JDW. Ideally...

Also found this that seems to be similar but with clips on the side. Found them on Aliexpress with search heatsink 4041s: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32542931108.html

Ah an LC 475. Yeah those are tight. The 8MB stick is even taller than your stick and overlaps the CPU quite a bit. I actually found a couple for auctions for the low profile 45mm with fan heatsink you got. It seems to be originally for geforce 256 cards. It also seems to have 2 models...
