I will add that you could probably get away with vinyl electrical tape to hold the pack together. It won't be as smooth--heck, even I didn't have big shrinkwrap--but if you keep tape layers to a minimum it should easily slide back into the plastic case with the clips, and there's plenty of room...

Hey, thanks for following along. . . Great question. I would absolutely do this again and you have even a little skill with the soldering iron this is pretty simple. I would suggest getting tabbed NiMH cells unless you have a battery spot welder. I considered getting one of those mini ones...

It was/is assembled yes. The reset button has a tactile action I can feel when pressed. I did not hear any ”brrrraaang” sound I reinstalled the nubbin as pictured, but I will double check that it is still there.

Adding a brief update. . . Packages received: Newton/eMate power adapter Androda’s replacement display cable and memory upgrade module NiMH cells for battery rebuild I still need to figure out a sync cable solution. So, today I finally installed the rebuilt hinges—or at least screwed them...

Regarding the battery, I already ordered and received my replacement MiMH cells (with tabs) so I will be doing the battery rebuild soon. A few house projects got in the way progress on this, but I will be adding more notes over the next few weeks. Thanks for all of the input.

Yeah, I mentioned in my original post that I already ordered one, (and have received it) as well as repaired hinges and restored retention washers.
