Plus be. I misspoke when I said I had a 6400. I had a 6400 back when they were new. My current machine is a 6500/225. Could be differences with the 275 and up boards. Did you take out the larger l2 cache? Edit, man I really need to better inventory my machines. I do have a 6400/200. I...

    Clamshell G3 keyboard discoloration

If by "1st gen" you mean the original Tangerine / Blueberry version in 1999, it is definitely not that keyboard (I have a blueberry and the blue is much darker). So maybe from a 1st gen graphite (SE 366MHz)? That's the one color I'm missing at this point, so it could be they used that color...

    Clamshell G3 keyboard discoloration

Yeah, all the pictures I found online appeared to have the blue lettering shown in my second picture. I'm guessing the yellowed on is the original from the 466MH lime version.

    Clamshell G3 keyboard discoloration

I don’t know if they’ve been swapped, as I bought both second hand. My indigo 366MHz has blue accents (see first picture). The lime 466 MHz has the same blue accent color, but the keys appear to be significantly less translucent (see second picture). The line keyboard is also significantly...

    Clamshell G3 keyboard discoloration

OK, so apparently I looked at pictures and it seems that the Lime iBook didn't have lime lettering on it's keys. Can anyone with a Lime iBook confirm? I may swap the nicer keyboard from my Indigo into the Lime one since they appear to be the same.

    Clamshell G3 keyboard discoloration

Anyone tried retrobrighting the keys / keyboard on the iBook G3 clamshell. Finally got my hands on one of my holy grail machines, a Lime 466MHz iBook. Unfortunately, I didn't notice in the pictures, but the keyboard seems like it might have been pulled from another machine (Indigo maybe)...

[Mac Plus, RASCSI] How do I boot the OS from a virtual hard drive on RASCSI without a working Mac?

You should just download a pre-made image (like the 6.0.8 boot disk found here: (Edit - removed my link - see @eric 's official location below. ) Upload that to your RaSCSI (after unzipping it), mount it, and when you boot you Mac Plus with the 6.0.8 40MB drive mounted and attached, it should...

Let me know if you want me to post my HD image. If you have a RaSCSI or some other way to load an image onto a HD, you can test with my exact install.

    BeOS Install

@eric , I have been able to get my BeOS disk image working fine on my RaSCSI. However, while I originally was able to get it to work in my BlueSCSI (external version, running the firmware with CD support), my TAM no longer will boot with my BlueSCSI in the external port. Nothing looks...

    BeOS Install

Couldn’t figure out the l2 cache size in software. But took some photos of the board installed into the cache slot. Did a search on the part number on the underside of the cache and it looks like it's the stock 256k card that I believe came with it.

Not sure on the L2 size. Looks like I have one installed (according to System Profile on the Mac side). I'll see if I can get the details for you. Here's my awacs file

    BeOS Install

Yes, it has sound. Networking works. Only was able to get a couple of mp3s to work on it, but I'm guessing something about newer encodings is tripping up the player. I didn't use BeOS much (although I remember creating a stock ticker app on it that would scrape data from the yahoo finance...

Sorry to hear that. I was (am) excited about the possibility of TinkerDifferent being a long lasting resource for the retro Apple community. I have had many fantastic interactions with people here. and greatly respect all the amazing work you (and others) have put into the community, the...

Getting some issues with it hanging on some boots from the blueSCSI. Not sure if it’s an issue with the blueSCSI, the image, the scsi on the TAM. But here is a picture as proof.

    BeOS Install

So, I recently learned that the TAM (Twentieth Anniversary Mac) can run BeOS. The person who was running it said you can run BeOS Pro on the TAM, so I figured I'd give it a go. Well, similar to my challenging experience getting it installed on my PowerMac 6400, I struggled a bit and figured it...
