    Managing your collections

Baserow looks promising. It features much of the capabilities of AirTable. Two things it lacks - a native iOS app (probably could live with, given the web interface is responsive. Not as nice as the AirTable native app, but probably good enough. The second thing I found could be a...

    Managing your collections

I would love to use Airtable, given that it seems to be very flexible and would even provide me the ability to store images and a comment stream on my devices. I'm really worried about their ability to keep it free / functional. The other problem I'd have is the amount of images I want to...

    Managing your collections

Yeah, while it would be cool to do on one of the vintage machines - I want the redundancy of my NAS storage, and the accessibility of a web server for the linking from a QR code on my phone. In theory, I could host the database, web server, and API server on one of my G4s, but I'm worried about...

    Managing your collections

Yeah, there's some apps for doing collection management. But they all lack what I think is a key component, the ability to generate a QR code to link back to the entry from the physical device (that I can tell). I want my workflow to be - grab a device to work on, scan the QR code to pull up...

    Managing your collections

Yeah, when I had a handful of devices, I could remember, but now 3-4 years in, with 142 devices (I just added a count to my list page to figure that out), I have trouble remembering what I've done to various machines, and what state they are in. I try to keep all my devices functional, but I do...

    Managing your collections

Just wondering how others manage your collections. I started with sticky notes on the devices with notes, then moved to a spreadsheet, then I decided I wanted to have a better way to do it, so I went about building myself a system to do it. I am not a web developer, so it's not well written...

    Tech by Androda Products

I can vouch for this product. I picked up a portable with the backlight upgrade that had had the display cable intentionally cut. @Androda was able to sell me a replacement (along with a new hybrid board) and get my machine back up and running.

    Powermac G5 Bench / shelf

The G5's are pretty sturdy. If you did need to re-inforce, I'd say the only part that would need it would be the bottom legs. maybe put some wooden blocks cut to size. The downside is you'd be able to see the wood from the front and back.

    Apple PC Compatibility Card (7" & 12") MS-DOS 6.22 / Windows 3.11 / Windows 95B / Windows 98SE Images

Yeah, I put in a fresh MeowToast with new CR2032. I also tried the reset button (which immediately snapped off), and the power on / off / on trick. No signed of life. Hoping a recap does it, but may be in the market for a replacement PSU...

Picked up a PowerMac G4 MDD with the Zip750 drive!

Someone listed a G4 locally on FB Marketplace and I fortunately caught it quickly, since it had the Zip750 drive with face plate. It allowed me to complete my PowerMac G3/G3 tower collection (not every iteration, but every design) with Zip drives. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it...

    Apple PC Compatibility Card (7" & 12") MS-DOS 6.22 / Windows 3.11 / Windows 95B / Windows 98SE Images

Sadly, my excitement was short lived. The 6115 wouldn't even power on. Likely the PSU, but waiting on some caps to see if a recap does the trick. If anyone has a good spare 61xx power supply they are willing to sell, let me know. I'd imagine running with the DOS card is harder on the PSU than...

The black Mac no one asked for (Powermac G3 All-In-One Molar)

Making the solid platinum beige sides blue translucent is beyond my level of expertise. Also, you'd just be looking at metal shielding.

The black Mac no one asked for (Powermac G3 All-In-One Molar)

Yeah, I was worried the black would really make the yellowing in of the translucent parts stand out (versus the beige making it look whiter), but it actually isn't too bad. If it was pristine white translucent, I think it would look really good. Overall, I'm happy with it. I'll need to get a...

    Tech by Androda Products

FYI, I finally got around to assembling and installing the battery eliminator in my backlight upgraded M5120 and can confirm it works well. I have the 7MB upgrade and the replacement hybrid card. No issues running it today after giving the caps time to charge up.

The black Mac no one asked for (Powermac G3 All-In-One Molar)

So, I had picked up a pair of G3 AIO machines recently. Unfortunately on one the right side of the case was badly scratched with terrible black marks. On the other, the left panel had damage. So I took the two good sides, retro-brighted them and took the best internal parts and made a good stock...

Molar Mac (Power Macintosh G3) Upgrades!

Actually, You can throw in a ZIF G4 card from a Yikes! G4 tower. I'm currently trying to locate one to upgrade my PowerMac G3 All-in-One to a G4.

    Apple PC Compatibility Card (7" & 12") MS-DOS 6.22 / Windows 3.11 / Windows 95B / Windows 98SE Images

This is awesome! I haven't broken out my 6115 with the DOS card in a while, but this will give me a good reason to. I know I struggled with getting Windows 3.11 / DOS on it (I think I resorted to making floppies with a USB floppy drive and then installing it that way). I decided Windows 95/98...

Macintosh II 40mm to 56mm Speaker adapter

I recently discovered that my lack of boot chime on my Mac II was due to a bad speaker. I looked for some cheap 32 ohm speakers with a 56mm diameter, but the closest I found were these 40mm versions: uxcell 0.5 W 32 Ohm DIY Magnetic Speaker 40mm Round-Shape Replacement Loudspeaker for DVD/EVD...

Macintosh II & IIx replacement battery holders

OK, so I did a recap the board and saw no change. I also added in some 3xAAA holders for the batteries (with switches), so I can access them and turn them off when not planning on using the machine. I used rechargeable as I've never observed them leaking. I did also add a quick connect...
