    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

But just to be clear, I am absolutely amazed how little interest there was because to me it is a really exciting awesome thing to discover you can do! To give an idea of the lack of enthusiasm... want to guess how many people followed the link to my blog post out of the first 1400 views of the...

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

    You spelt "display" incorrectly ;)

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

Weird, but probably fine. I think it has decided you need at least 7.1.3, but doesn't realise that 7.1.4 meets the criteria. Hummmmm That isn't the usual AppleScript installer. What about in the Extensions folder, did it install "Scripting Additions"?

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but take care that not everyone is the same type of collector or person, as much as I'd like to see some testing done and people to enjoy using the software, it is up to people to use their computers as they want. Truth is I just want to get some testing done so I...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

The chipset was designed to work at 40MHz, the only limiting parts are the exact speed of the RAM soldered on the board, the CPU grade, VRAM grade and the type of MC88916/88920 fitted. If you have an MC88920DW70 fitted like I anticipate you have, 40MHz is a fairly mild overclock (it is rated for...

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

That error looks like you don't have the normal scripting additions installed - they go in a folder in extensions. Yeah, I wouldn't install 1.0 or anything if newer versions exist. I'd go for a bit newer than that. I'd install version 1.1 which is what I'm using. It should include the Scripting...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

You'd be suprised. There has been almost no interest. I've only been able to get two people to do any testing, and only one of them has a PPC card... after posting here, a friend posting on reddit, it being on my website, and on youtube. Plus I directly contacted everybody I could think of that...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

It isn't publicly available yet, I've been struggling to get testers to finalise it.

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

Here is a demo of it in use on System 7.5.x (I don't have System 7.1 installed on my emulator, but it should work find as long as you have applescript and Finder 7.1.3 / 7.1.4 from System 7.1.2 (Edited out an error where I said Finder 7.1.2, instead of the Finder from 7.1.2). The low framerate...

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

A couple of quality of life updates to stop you accidentally deleting the script itself, and handling nothing being selected. This is still an extremely dangerous script because as requested, it doesn't do any confirmation before emptying the trash. I'd not actually run it like this myself and...

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

If you only need it in 7.1 and later, you could do this with AppleScript, Finder 7.1.3 or 7.1.4 from System 7 Pro or System 7.1.2 (edited out an error where I said Finder 7.1.2 instead of the Finder versions from System 7.1.2) and... that thing that adds applications to the F-keys. Finder 7.1.2...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Found some old photos of my 800k SE. The IWM is marked almost identically to yours. 47th week of 1987. I'll try swapping it into my FDHD chassis at some point, and swapping the ROMs. See what I get. Actually, just swapping the floppy controllers is simpler. For reference : Sorry all these...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Looking at the numbers on the chips above, I'm guessing the numbers left of the V are the date code. The last Edit : First number in the triplet must be the year logically based on what is there. So yours is a 1987 part. I'll check mine.

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Unless @Kai Robinson swapped it out for a UTSource part then, it looks like Apple were fitting stealth SWIMs to some (probably later - why do a new run of the older part) 800k SEs then. I mean, it doesn't matter at all, they're functionally identical when used like that. You only noticed...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I think the chip is a SWIM chip and the situation is probably reasonably unusual. Where did the chip come from? is there any chance at all that it might be repainted? Alternatively, perhaps Apple were short of spare IWMs for stocks and so just marked some SWIMs as IWM. I think the mystery...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

And a superdrive? So... it shouldn't... really be possible. Short background - The SWIM is a IWM with a second "chip" added, the ISM. These two separate parts of the SWIM are very close to functionally identical to their stand alone predecessors. In a FDHD SE, the IWM part controls the drive...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I shared the warning from this page last time you said. This is page 429 from Apple's "Guide to Macintosh Family Hardware, 2nd Edition". I'm confused, I'm unsure whether you think that the voltage isn't 8v peak to peak, or that it is OK to put 8 volts into consumer devices without it needing...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

@JTRetro - carefully if you follow this advice. You're only meant to use high impedance headphones (a rare sight these days) {edit - I'm not sure what headphoes are appropriate, so advise working that out yourself} on the SE. Its way higher peak to peak voltage than a normal sound output. It...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Interesting, in my circles they just say "f***ing intermittent faults". Your way is more elegant I have to admit.

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

I managed to get permission to share the Control Strip Module from the original author of the Control Strip example code I based it on. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/control-strip-475-overclock Its only 8k in size (larger on big HFS drives). Have fun. It has a ReadMe, but seriously, you...
