BlueSCSI V2 access LED affected by DaynaPort

Hi, I have a BlueSCSI V2 PowerBook edition, with Pico W, hardware version 2023.10a I think. I've hooked up a little piezo buzzer to the LED solder pads and this gives me feedback as to when the SD card is being accessed, which is really useful; I find the silence of solid state drives to be...

Issues with OS install on PowerBook 165c

I think this is normal, that a standard set of 7.1 installer disks will not have all the various enablers included. For systems such as the 165c, you’d need to use the installation media that specifically came with the machine. Also, I can confirm that the PowerBook 160/165/180 also need this...

Reviving a sad looking Quadra 840av

Thank you! I fixed my 840AV. After cleaning up and recapping it was powering on but not chiming. I found a single broken trace going to the AT&T DSP, I ran a wire and then it came fully to life. 100% working.

Issues with OS install on PowerBook 165c

I agree this is because of a missing enabler. You can download this from the Garden and just add it into your existing 7.1 install.

    Marchintosh Project - SE/30 Reloaded

Oh man, this is really disappointing to hear after all the other difficulties of the group order. Glad it’s been diagnosed though.

Reviving a sad looking Quadra 840av

I'm soon to get started on restoring a couple of 840AV boards which have heavy cap corrosion. I think it will be quite a challenge. What is the PSC? The ABT245s look like RAM muxes bus transceivers. What is an RCT?

    Advice on Mac SE/30 RAM

No risks, it works fine. Just a bit slow on the stock 16MHz 030. I prefer to run 7.5.5 but I do have an install of 8.1 because as you say, it is a curiosity to use on a compact Mac.

    Advice on Mac SE/30 RAM

Yes OS 8 on an SE/30, wildly inappropriate. There‘s a working download link to the patch on this page: https://vintageapple.org/gamba2/os8_68030.html

Well, they are quite tall and the chassis doesn’t have enough clearance. They fit in one bank but not the other.

    SE/30 sound issue

Well done. The through hole caps are not that crucial to replace. Some people snip them above the legs and then solder the new caps to the old legs. You probably found it hard to insert the new cap as the old hole was not perfectly clean. I sometimes push a syringe needle through a few times...
