Converting from CRT to LCD and updating video output in Compact Macs

I'd not worry about the reflections, Laptops and Displays have had high gloss LCD finishes that it would look perfectly fine today, if not period correct.

Converting from CRT to LCD and updating video output in Compact Macs

If you're doing an SE/30 board, definitely be on the lookout for a VidCard to run the LCD at a higher resolution. If you pull the Video ROM the SE/30 will have no idea onboard video exists. Video ROM is the functional equivalent of the VidCard's Declaration ROM and polled by Slot Manager at...

Memory Morass: Jailbreaking the Discrete IC Bank A limitations Apple imposed on all but top tier Macs + SimmSpender 3.0

IIsi: soldered Bank A to high capacity 72pin SIMM conversion study: Well that pretty much covers funneling soldered Bank A ICs into a 72pin SIMM pinout. Color coding is a bit off with gray Data lines on SIMM meant to be connected to purple Data lines on the DRAM ICs...

Converting from CRT to LCD and updating video output in Compact Macs

Are you driving the LCD from the OEM mobo, an expansion card sans CRT, putting in a replacement mobo and high res LCD?

Memory Morass: Jailbreaking the Discrete IC Bank A limitations Apple imposed on all but top tier Macs + SimmSpender 3.0

Been hacking away at limitations of the IIsi for many years and it's time to revisit that project and expand it to other Macs: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/simmspender%E2%84%A2-iisi-memory-expansion-hack-reboot.29912/#post-327163 LCIII memory expansion now underway by @max1zzz...

Any Thoughts on this "Prototype" 6360?

Booted with or without Video? If without, have you got a 7" PCI VidCard? In any event, hook it up to a MultiSync VGA Panel.

Any Thoughts on this "Prototype" 6360?

Appears to be an in between shipping CPU clock rate CPU, strange.

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

Got it, memory map must be addressing, testing and reporting reporting on it in a specialized bank? Maybe that's why it appears you've found five banks instead of four?

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

Uniserver successfully upgraded LCIII onboard DRAM chips to double the capacity to 8MB in Bank A, that worked just fine. His hack maxed out what the IC Package supported. So I don't think there would be a ROM limitation. I'll try to search out that thread at the MLA. edit: found something...

What are your vintage grail items?

TAM was desk candy as was that silly little Cube, meant more for for reception desktops at .com, so called professional offices and at the fashionista 57th St. hair salon where my brother was a colorist in that day. They were aimed at those into GeekChic decor in the jIvesian mold and fairly...

What are your vintage grail items?

I've never thought much of the TAM, screen real estate's pathetic/3400c PB tiny for a desktop machine. Some frog design concepts and TAM design studies really rock though. Building an improved PseudoTAM is on my wish list, if not a Grail level gottagedone kinda thing.

    TinkerTales from the crypt . . .

Glad to see you guys like this stuff! ;) Though really tempting, decided that LisaP is much easier crated up and moved as the bare Lisa2 bezel. The guts of the 12" RGB 'zaTopper will be easier to crate up as is in its "new" sheet metal can with its plastics packed up with the lighter equipment...

BenchMacXL 12" RGB PizzaTopper BenchMac w/Peripherals Shed attached. Rudimentary Sheet metal fab using hand tools. 12" Wiss Seamer tryout success. OMG I so miss my box and pan brake. This is the BenchMac that was to be replaced in order to get the beautiful 17" Sony...

    TinkerTales from the crypt . . .

Absolutely, but It'd be better to have that in a dedicated "Inspirations" thread for all to post I think. Get one started. :) This thread is dedicated to re-documenting my own two decades running backlog hacks projects. Adding up to date rapid prototyping and SBC/accessory tweakage is the aim...

Front Bezel will swing out like so for access to Optical, ZIP and USB/Firewire Solid State drive module in 5.25 bay format. As for the Logic Board housing setup, the LCD assy will be hinged as well for removal of the 6500 board from the front. credit to @joethezombie and his Avatar for the...

This one has its attached pics intact: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/a-little-bit-of-lisa.27641/ Been thinking about the LisaP variant too much today while I should really be packing . . . It'll look more like this: Depth will be determined by 5.25" Laptop Optical Drive...

    TinkerTales from the crypt . . .

Technology available to us for tinkering has advanced by leaps and bounds since the G4 era. Mac hacking and most any other kind of tinkering has benefited so very much from advances in 2D and 3D CAD/CAM since I made the move from the Big Apple to the Bermuda Triangle of NC. So much has happened...

Rebuilding the ComputerLab from spare leftovers and scrap . . .

Gee, thanks . . . :-/ . . . it's out from under the stack of pots and pans on the cold back burner, sitting between the four ATM. Dunno where it'll land next. Your SE-40's vertical Logic Board Drawer mount, the customized computer lab shelf, access to a water jet, RPi LCD bundle...

Rebuilding the ComputerLab from spare leftovers and scrap . . .

Had some fun with it already, thanks! But playtime is on hold for some time, what a mess, see below: Last night I got the main system dragged off the teak desk out in the dining area and set up! This morning I trimmed back the protruding left corner of the KBD drawer. Looks and feels like it...
