    Fanny Mac Clone (Community Feedback)

I've made a dimensionally accurate 3D replica of the "Fanny Mac" but now I'd love community feedback. The fanny mac is an active cooling device which inserts into the handle cavity on early Compact Macs. Feedback I see feedback as fitting into three broad categories: What fan is best for this...

    Vectrex

It's one of the consoles I would like to own. Unfortunately for me, I became enthusiastic about them after they grew in popularity... so no early bird prices for me :)

Famicom - Write Protection Bypass for FDS 3206 Disk Drives

This article introduces the FD3206 No-Wire Open Source FDS Mod, a new method of bypassing write-restrictions built into Nintendo Famicom Disk System drives. Scroll down to "A New Alternative" if you're only interested in the new mod. Write Protection History I've already written about the...

Found a Neat Mod From Back in The Day in My 128k

These days I'm less impassioned. If people want to use their 128k as a door stop then I wish them all the best. That being said — as the owner of upgraded 512k macs and original 128k macs, I am still on the look out for my very own fat mac.

Found a Neat Mod From Back in The Day in My 128k

Indeed, this appears to be a "fat mac" (Dr. Dobbs, "Fatten Your Mac", 1985 PDF). This is my favorite mac... even if it isn't officially a Mac! This represents a brief period of time when eager enthusiasts were willing to "risk it all" to reach the dream they were sold with the 128k (and 512k).

Famicom — FDS Drive Calibration (WIP)

Introduction There is already a wealth of information on drive calibration for the Famicom Disk System. However, it appears that it's not the whole story. Over the last few weeks I've been deeply investigating Famicom Disk Drive calibration. This all started when I purchased six drives from...

    Compact Mac Video Adapter

I'm not opposed — but one of the advantages of open source is that other people can spin off their own version! If no one wants to take a stab at this then I will make an updated version just for ✨ you ✨.

We have a thread for PLA color - how about Resins for best matching Platinum and Beige Macs

I just did a cursory search for pantone 405nm resins and I regret to say there were zero relevant results. I would definitely be interested to hear if anyone else has more information.

Famicom Disk System — Calibration Technique

There's loads of information online but I feel very confident that this article is reliable summary to address Error codes 21, 22, and 27. The included URL is a good general reference for FDS errors and basic prep. How do I know this is a good article? I can consistently create and...

    M0110 Keyboard Dead - Ideas?

Have you ever confirmed the Macs port? After that - have you confirmed power is making it to the keyboard side when it’s plugged in? IIRC the outer pins are GND and 5v. Inner two are clock and data. if you have an oscilloscope or logic analyzer it’s trivial to probe clock and data on the...

    1987 Macintosh Plus (Platinum)

    From two known-good analog boards (in-situ): "TAI-HO TH1565" flyback on a 630-0102 Analog Board 1 to 3 = 0.4 Ω 2 to 4 = 0.8 Ω 5 to 7 = 4.3 Ω 5 to 8 = 1.4 Ω 1 + 4 = .9 Ω 1 + 5 = O.L. 2 + 3 = .7 Ω 2 + 7 = 17.56K Ω 2 + 8 = 4M Ω (some fluctuation) 3 + 7 = 93K Ω (some fluctuation) 3 + 8 = 3.5M Ω...

What are your vintage grail items?

For the record, I finally found a 128k in excellent condition at an excellent price. I don't think there is anything else I really want to get in the mac world (y)

Mac Plus floppy drive not happy

They're 3D printed by @Kay K.M.Mods. Extremely high quality! My Shapeways gears (regular) (premium) are a decent alternative if MacEffects is out of stock. Kay's gears higher quality as demonstrated in this thread. Dozens (possibly even hundreds at this point) of people have used my gear and...

68000 CPU interface replacement for Killy Klip - Photos of alternatives wanted

I was lucky and could submit a few prototypes to JLC before they enforced minimum PCB size guidelines. I used the thinnest board and made "tongs" that came down to touch the sides of the legs, held in place with a 3D printed frame. My results weren't promising but perhaps there is a better...

Flashing green light only sign of life

Nah, that’s the expansion slot that’s empty. It’s typically empty (expansions are sort of rare). The ROM is present but “camouflages” in with the rest of the board … if you’re not looking closely enough like me!

Here's an example of the Электроника Б6-03 — Elektronika B6-03 Digital LCD watch. This particular model, among three others, has arrived from Ukraine. It's the first of the three I've purchased which was in good enough condition to bring back to life. The other two were "battery bombed"...
