    68kmla MIA

Glad to see you here, Brett. You joined the MLA about 4 years before I did. I was an active participant there until I left in July 2021, which was the summer we created TinkerDifferent. I haven’t posted in the public forum over there since my departure. Even though both forums use XenForo...

    What did you cook today?

Wow! Really? “Grill flavor” is the taste to die for! A small hint of that is what makes Burger King best McDonalds too. Here in Japan, there’s a delicacy called Unagi, which is roasted eel. If you’ve never had it before, it sounds terrible. And it actually is unless it’s grilled. Even my wife...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

I've heard other people tell me they can see the FPS like that, but I've never been able to figure out how different their version was from mine, especially since we both downloaded from Macintosh Garden. It's really strange. And yes, I've tried all the various screen sizes too.

    PowerBook 165c & BlueSCSIv2 Drive Mounting Issue

That would require me to disassemble the PowerBook again to access the SD card. What I did instead was put SCSI Probe into the Control Panels folder, open it, click Options, then tick these two checkboxes: Upon reboot, both drives mounted just fine. It seems to be a good solution to the...

    PowerBook 165c DISPLAY QUESTIONS

For Mac lovers who needed a portable, I guess. But my solution to save money and maximize performance in those days was to just stick to desktops. Anyway, thank you very much for the excellent info because you answered my question perfectly!

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

I did an exhaustive amount of research into that, asking many, many people. It was a dead end. But since were on the topic of Doom, I am thinking maybe @MacOfAllTrades might know because of their amazing work on getting it to function on an SE/30 here...

    PowerBook 180c Display RECAPPING LIST

First off, @3lectr1c has a nice overview of the stock electrolytic caps for the 180c display on his MacDAT web page here: https://www.macdat.net/repair/cap_reference/apple/powerbook/180c.html And "halkyardo" in the other forum has posted his solid tantalum recapping experience here...

    What did you cook today?

Homemade buns are the best. The only downside is they come out taller than a regular burger bun at McDonald's, etc. But if you don't mind the extra bread, they're great and healthier too, in my opinion.

    PowerBook 165c DISPLAY QUESTIONS

Thank you for the feedback. It certainly doesn’t take a minute or even close to that for the screen to “settle“ at cold boot. There is no “throbbing“ either, and the flicker you see in my video was simply my camera not being synced with the LCDs refresh rate. Later in the video, I better sync...

    PowerBook 165c & BlueSCSIv2 Drive Mounting Issue

Perhaps @eric or you other BlueSCSIv2 PowerBook edition owners might know, but I'm curious why only one of my two drives (on the SD card) mounts when I power on the machine, despite having a good PRAM battery. I am then forced to use SCSI Probe to mount the second drive, as shown in my short...

    PowerBook 165c DISPLAY QUESTIONS

This question is for you experts out there, and that includes @Ron's Computer Videos & @Mac84 & @techknight . Because the display is Passive Matrix, is ghosting normal, or is it showing only because the stock caps inside the display haven't been changed? You can more easily see what I mean in...

    PowerBook 165c Recapping List

Hey, @techknight . Your video here shows a recapping list for the PowerBook 165c at time stamp 14:39. You bought YAGEO ESS106M063AE2EA to replace the seven 10uF 63V "Low Profile" caps inside the display: Height (Length): 7mm (which your video shows "just barely clears") Diameter: 6.3mm Lead...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

Seems a tad smaller, and the case is 3D printed too. One review on that page says it’s not the best 3D print. So doesn’t that try AliExpress product try to compete with Pico Mac Nano from 1-bit Rainbow in the UK rather than compete with Maclock?

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

Not sure what you mean because I bought my Maclock with the intention of using it as a clock. Can you please post a link so we can see what you are describing?

    Color Classic Resolution Switching

Stock CC resolution is 512x384, so it’s neat to see you can get 560x384 if you have an LC520 or 550 motherboard installed AND don’t have the 640x480 VGA mod setup on the Analog Board. Thank you very much for testing and sharing that info! QUESTION: Are the pixels still square? You may need...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

This link: https://ja.aliexpress.com/item/1005010729694755.html Keep in mind that clicking it may or may not take you where you need to go because naughty AliExpress does a lot of tricky to hide things from people. I can’t tell if I’m on the right place or not if I use the AliExpress app for...

    What did you cook today?

Yeah, I think we need to fix that on this forum. Everybody knows that when you shoot photos on an iPhone it saves them as an HEIC file, not JPG. And even though you can change the setting, for the most part, you want to leave at HEIC, and not make all your photos JPG. Storage space is pricey...

PowerBook Repair Series: Trackball Repairs & Battery Door Removal

Thank you for the link. That leads to the small version standoff. He mentions it is only one in a series of standoffs, but I’m afraid I can’t find any of the other 3D printable standoffs from him that would be required. On the very bottom case alone you have tall and small ones like that. One...

    What did you cook today?

Yes, asparagus. I shot a photo immediately after building the burger and before I completely filled my plate, which is why it looks a bit odd, but I assure you, the burger was quite good and so was the asparagus too! In the past, when I lived in the US, I had tried barbecued burgers made by...
