    68040 Heatsink Clip

Here's 3D model for a heatsink clip to attach a 45mm x 45mm x 10mm heatsink to 68040. Planning to make another model to clip on a fan as well. https://github.com/alxlab-zone66x/68040_Heatsink_Clip

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

I'm not surprised that my drives were misaligned since they got shipped/kicked across the country. Even so it looks like the problems with my drives seems to be with the alignment of the optical endstop sensor and not the motor alignment. It seems to take VERY little movement to make it not be...

    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

The STL will be public on my github once I write up the readme file. I'll also do a seperate post about it with a link to the github in the 3D section of Tinker Different. Licensing will most likely be CC-BY-NC-SA. I will probably be selling the bracket at some point for $5 CAD for just the clip...

Here's the clip. I had to beef up the sides to make it hold tightly. I'll probably modify the clip at some point to be able to screw a 60mm onto it. Now I'll worry a little less with running my 68040 without a heatsink and be a little more prepared for overclocking.

Yes sir! That is the plan. I'm pretty sure we got the same gold heatsink so it should work with yours once I get the design finalized. I'll try to figure out how to attach a 50mm afterward. Good 50mm x 50mm x 10mm fans seem to be harder to find though.

I actually found a taller 45mm heatsink and but I'm not sure it would give much more surface area that the lower height heatsink. I has less fins and missing the cross cuts. Would only be useful for passive cooling also since the fan won't fit.

Yeah I was thinking of creating something similar to the Radian EZ Snap Clip https://www.radianheatsinks.com/ez-snap-clip/ Look like it should be printable on a standard FDM printer. I'm sure I could come up with something to be able to screw in a standard 40mm or 50mm fan.

You are correct, you never said that they can't be used at all. You just mentioned that they "Ceramic caps are unfortunately a BAD idea". I interpreted it the wrong way. Exactly. There's is a lot more thought that has to go into selecting and using MLCCs vs tants, poly tants and al poly...

Like you I've had my concerns over the use of MLCC due to DC bias, but in reality I've been using them in old computers they will work fine regardless of DC bias. TDK actually has a very good guide for replacing electrolytic capacitors with MLCC explaining what you mentioned and appropriate use...

I'm still wondering if MLCC will perform just as good or better than the OS-CON for overclocking since they are the lowest ESR out of all of them. I guess I'll find out at some point when I decide to try overclocking at some point.

Actually I was wondering if we could just do the same trick with the 72-pin ram to make the EDO VRAM behave like FPM.

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

I would like the share my recent experience and observations with 3.5" 800K floppy drive head alignment. As probably mentioned before the The Dead Mac Scrolls offers a great problem and solution list to go through with alignment fixes being the last resort. In my case it was definitely...

I want grey scale graphics support and bluescsi built in and a 72-pin ram slot so I can use my 4MB 72-pin ram that's worthless up to now now! JK JK I dunno man. Looks like you we're pretty thorough on the features already.
