    Q660AV max memory ?

OK... answering to myself, the 660AV is limited to 16 MB per bank. Apple says that in order to reach 68 MB, you need to use 16 MB RAM chips.... like two 16 MB chip per SIMM. I don't get that. I think Apple documentation has a typo, they talk about 16 Mbits chips, not 16 Mbytes. The 8 x OKI...

Mod: Quadra 660AV 2 MB VRAM Upgrade

Hehe ! @Zane Kaminski Sorry for coming back a bit late, I had many other projects, including building 2 x SE reloaded boards and repairing a few machines. In fact, only half of the memory is soldered on the 840AV, which has two VRAM expansion slots. From Apple documentation, you can see bank C...

    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

I know it's my responsibility :) So the black oscillator is 12.5 MHz, half of 25 MHz. The other crystal is 55.5 MHz, which is, for sure, for the ATT 3210 DSP. (you can zoom on the following picture, from a different angle). So I'm still pretty convinced this is the black crystal in my case...

    Q660AV max memory ?

I checked the pin layout, and PD1 is grounded, PD2 is open, which is normally for 16 MB. To the best of my knowledge, both should be grounded for 64 MB.... I think I will solder this for a test

    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

Hi @Kay K.M.Mods ! Just starting today with the Spicy O'Clock you sent me a while ago now, and I want so start with my Q660AV. Going through the post, I'm not sure someone has tried yet. It sports an MC88920, so that should be good. I'm also lucky to have a 68040@33MHz stock, despite being...

    Q660AV max memory ?

Hi all, I just did a test on my Q660AV. I had two 64 MB 72-pin. SIMM from Keystron in stock and popped them in. I know max memory is supposed to be 68 MB (ie 4 MB soldered, and 64 MB SIMMs). To my surprise, the Mac, running 8.1, lists 36 MB RAM with two sticks, 20 MB with one SIMM. So, the 64...

Repairing a IIsi and some LCs - messed with ROM SIMMs - Solved...

Oh boys I'm stupid.... The IISi does not need a ROM SIMM. It is soldered to the Motherboard. Removing the ROM SIMM made the Mac boot ! Chime and cursor. Well I think the HD is dead, but at least, the Mac is functional. Another one repaired.

Repairing a IIsi and some LCs - messed with ROM SIMMs - Solved...

Hi all, I have a IIsi which did work, the PSU went white smoke (failed cap). I have now fully recaped both PSU and motherboard, and it powers up again. Well at least all power rails are good, hard disk starts to spin as well, but not chime. In fact I think I messed up with the ROM SIMM, as I...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

so.... now I have matching red SIMMs :) OK, slightly different red, but they will look nice. If any is building a red version, I have some spare, as I did not feel like ordering only 4 from JLCPCB :) So, @JDW it will be a matter of matching blue or glowing red pill ! BTW, I don't see many...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

For all the others, I'm progressing with the Blue Pill. Your choice ;P I'm just stuck because my PowerBook 15 mid-2015 suddenly decided he needed to get to ICU... and unfortunately passed away. (well fortunately, it's just some hardware... or... no, it's part of my life). Well there was also...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Good point, thanks for bringing my attention on this ! Also you can see on the three models I tried that I sliced them a bit too high, with no support feet to go in the PCB holes. Some models did have the feet but I went through Cura too fast at lunch time and did not pay attention in fact...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

I think I will go for the top right one. Any thought ? BTW, if anyone wants me to print such things do not hesitate, I can do other Colors. I would only charge for shipping, the cost of labor and material is negligeable. Of course donations will always be accepted !

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Now starting a batch of programmer's buttons holders. I'm testing 3 different models from the link @JDW shared previously. 4 of each, should be done in about 1 hour, will keep you updated.
