Using the Sun to restore a yellow Macintosh ☀️

I like your box-construction, could you please explain a bit more how/what did you do to build it? Is is completely closed during the procedure? Do you have reflective inside cover (to reflect back the UV light)? Why it is covered with plastic bag from outside?

Installing SSD in first gen. G5 (dual 2.0 GHz) - not booting

I have a wired problem with my new toy, a PowerMac G5 dual 2.0 GHz from December, 2003. The machine arrived in an acceptable condition, sadly during the transport get damaged, the top rear handling have got a punch and released from the top line of the housing. It is "just" optical damage...

New G4 Cube picked up as part of package deal with Studio CRT (ADC)

Maybe you can try acetone to melt the plastic (ABS) and glue the two parts together? Won't be 100% like was before but can be better than any other glueing method. I saved few vintage CRT Monitor housing with this way and last as it should. Could help here too.

    Floppy Transit Protector

Very cool! Based on the pictures what we've got from @RetroViator and @lilliputian it is "much thinner" but that goes between the read/write heads. if it is less than a millimeter than it is ok. When you eject a disk from the drive, the upper head moves away from the lower head approx 3mm. I...

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

Same story here. That SE what I was talking about, was very badly handled in the last 20+ years. The front bezel was multiple places broken, pieces are missing from it, the main board was standing in some dirty water (the whole machine was stinky like a pub's toilette) and the hard disk was...

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

Just an interesting observation: I've spent many-many hours in the last years to "try-to-realign-the-bastard-floppy-drive" and I was able to "do" one very-very interesting situation: I had a drive (already out from this state) like you have two (!) logical disks on the same physical disk. More...

Radius Two Page Display for Mac SE

I have purchased this Radius TPD few weeks ago and just had a time to check today. I have no Radius TPD monitor, so I just plugged into my Frankenstein SE to see if it "does" something. Hard to say... what was the result... If you see the pictures, the menu bar is double thick and the font size...

    Leopard Sorbet on iBook G4?

Sorbet Leopard will work quiet good on G4 iBooks. Booting up from the USB is tricky. I'd connect the iBook to another Mac with Target Disk mode, and use the Disk Utility to Restore the Sorbet Leopard to it. Then power down, dosconnect from the host Mac and reboot the iBook. This method worked...

How do you do the vintage feeling for the daily tasks?

If any of you want to use ADB Mouse (with any of the available adapters) you'll recognise they are much "slower" mouses like the nowdays pointer devices. You can use the System Preferences to try to speedup the cursor tracking speed but with some old ADB mouse it still stays very slow. Use these...

How do you do the vintage feeling for the daily tasks?

Kai's previous post was giving me the idea to ask you guys if you use vintage peripheries for your daily computer usage. I mean, monitors, keyboards, mouse or vintage storage. Using vintage computers is one thing, we do this because of our hobby but using old I/O devices makes the daily feeling...
