Mac Plus repair with the ROM-inator Resurrections

That's great! I was reluctant to install the ROMinator because I don't like changes in the "look & feel", but if I could use it in a less "aggressive" (this is very subjective!) way, I'd surely try it.

Mac Plus repair with the ROM-inator Resurrections

Nice! I have a ROMinator kit pending to be used, but I was wary to fiddle with my Plus, as it’s working fine now (I just had to repair the analog board). I’d have a question… Is it possible to set the ROMinator to use the standard chime and boot icon? Txs!

How to convert DMG and other formats to ISO (for RASCSI)

I answer myself... apparently once mounting the ISO I get a SCCD device that remains after ejecting the ISO, and when mounting a new one from the web interface it will appear instantly on the Mac without having to restart. I guess there must be a way to mount an "empty" SCCD drive on startup, so...

How to convert DMG and other formats to ISO (for RASCSI)

Hi! I couldn't work again on this until now... I didn't manage yet to try your advice, as I don't have enough free space in the startup volume, but I did try to mount with RASCSI and I could mount the ISO file obtained with bchunk. Nevertheless, I had to restart the Mac for the CD to appear...

The Secret History of Mac Gaming: Expanded Edition

I received my copy today. It looks full of great content, and I’ll enjoy reading it, but I must say that the layout is super basic… it’s a pity they didn’t put attention to font styles, margins and these things.

What is the best technique to remove SMD ICs ?

Hey. I want to make some 4MB 30 pin SIMMs for fun and the only source I could find for the appropriate memory chips are from 16MB or 32MB SIMMs. I plan to remove the chips using my cheap hot air gun, but I never did such thing. What is the right technique? (Temperature, time to apply heat...

Problem with IIci and NuBus cards (Solved!)

So I got the ICs and I could work on this again. Visually the chip didn't look too bad: But when clipping the legs (I don't know how to use properly the heat gun, so I didn't want to risk removing a pad or something) I could see that were quite corroded, and when cleaning the pads I got a...

What is this "PowerBook 145B Restore"

OK. Thanks. Then I understand that the required extensions or control panel items (if any) for such a PowerBook will be coming in some universal install, right?

What is this "PowerBook 145B Restore"

I don't really know... I'm just supposing this after seeing the copy that guy sells at eBay, but in the "Legacy Recovery CD" I couldn't find it. I found distributions for other PB models, but not that one. For Sys 7 versions I see these folders - 7.1-PB 16x, 18x 1.03) - 7.1.1- PB 150 - 7.1.1-PB...

What is this "PowerBook 145B Restore"

OK. I found these utilities in the "Legacy Recovery CD" It would be cool to find the Original floppy distribution that came with this model.

What is this "PowerBook 145B Restore"

I answer myself... it seems a backup/restore utility, and this is in particular the application to restore the backup (so it should exist also something like "PowerBook 145B Backup", maybe). https://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/548087/apple-macintosh-powerbook-145b.html?page=138 So my question...

What is this "PowerBook 145B Restore"

Hi, trying to learn more about my "new" 145B I found a guy on eBay selling this floppy that contains a tool named "PowerBook 145B Restore". I couldn't find other references to this (I checked in the "Restoration CD SSW Disk 1" but I don't find such this thing). Does anyone what is it and where...

    Advice on PB 145B repair

Super thanks! I'll document myself and get the replacement parts. I'm OK with the soldering job but I must say that the part that scares me the most is to disassemble it without breaking the plastics...

    Advice on PB 145B repair

I got for cheap a 145B today. Cosmetically is in good condition. Hinges are a bit stiff but not broken, and it has the rear lid. The power adaptor is missing, but I could find a temporary solution. I get boot chime and apparently right HD noise. Logic board seems OK, but I get no image. What...

Recapping PowerBook 100 Series 7.5v 2A AC Adapter

What is the connector type for these adapters? I'm getting a 145B without adapter and I think (please confirm) that it's 7.5V, minimum 2A and the barrel is positive in the center, but I don't know the type of barrel. Does anyone know this?

How to convert DMG and other formats to ISO (for RASCSI)

My modern Mac can't mount it, and I tried to mount it on Basillisk with System 7.5 and the "Virtual CD/DVD-ROM Utility" and I got an error (Insufficient system resources). I'll try tomorrow with the RASCSI

How to convert DMG and other formats to ISO (for RASCSI)

Thanks a lot, this helps! In fact I did find before the first link, but I didn't notice they made a typo in the first command, saying "sudo port install chunk" instead of "sudo port install bchunk", and as it failed I got stuck, with the second link I noticed the error. I could test the...

    Printing in Color

I'm trying my luck again with a second color ribbon, as the first one was bad on the inside (the rubber gears inside crumbled into dust). Last time I couldn't figure out how to print in color. Can anyone give a hint?
