I was playing with a new OSX 10.5 PowerPC multimedia plex/soundcloud/internet radio front end that SRP just released the beta for over HERE. I was able to connect with my Plex token and the app saw my recent Walking Dead episodes along with my server and I was briefly able to stream an episode before my Powermac became grumpy and crashed lol.

But that is pretty cool! Plex on a 20+ year old mac. It has some other functionality that I haven't really tapped yet but am excited to once I get Plex working. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I made some progress today. I was able to adjust config in settings to get srps beta Aquacenter to play clean and smooth playback from Plex on my Powermac G5.

It's not perfect as when the episode is over, it doesnt forward to the next one but watching 2026 Plex on a 2004 Powermac G5 is pretty awesome. I mean that's typically something I do on a M2 12c mbp16 that has literally 10x-100x's faster processing power.

Plans changed a bit. I downgraded to the A1278 MBP and am planning to sell the A1286 as a project machine for someone who has an A1286 with a bad GPU chip, but a good drive and battery. So, swapped the 1TB drive from that computer over to the A1278. My reason for doing this is that one of my clients has a mid-2012 A1286 that I set up for him, but that has an iffy battery. My late 2011 machine has a good battery in it. I'll either get a machine identical to the "problem child" mid-2012 A1286, but one that's not with multiple issues, or I'll get a slightly newer retina 15" MBP. Something that can run Mac OS 11, 12, etc. Use that as a work machine, then have the Mac Pro as my image editing and home internet machine, and the A1278 for travel light purposes.
