Connect ADC monitor to HDMI source

No, all components are brand new. I did not need to reuse old components. I am located in Germany in Europe, and the transport (to US or outside from EU) could cause a lot of time and probably not very cheap. I do some resource and figure out how to do. I have no problem to create "kits" for...

Connect ADC monitor to HDMI source

I love the compact Macs from the middle 80s, but my other love is the PowerMac Mirrored Drive Doors with Apple Cinema Displays. These displays have ADC connectors used to connect to specific graphic cards with ADC connectors. The Apple (and other) solutions to connect these monitors to DVI...

Voltage tester breakout for Apple Floppy Connector

If you need to check the different voltage levels on your vintage Mac, probably you know the floppy connector has the +5V and the +12V on its pins. To measure voltage safely, I designed a little breakout boards, soldered to a DB19 connector. Now, I can safely measure my voltages. If you...

Favorite music style when cooking and when eating/drinking?

I also like to cook, my wife to bake. Usually I listen similar music like @Certificate of Excellence mentioned, but there is one case when I need more speed, then comes Lemmy and the Motörhead with the Bastards album... and this case is to do hungarian "palacsinta" - a kind of pancake. Our...

MAC SE FDHD Floppy Cover with activity LED

Finally I was opening my SE 1/20 (this is the European name for an FDHD) and took pictures from inside. It is not possible to remove not only because it is fixed with four hot-plastic pins than it is glued into the housing. If you see the picture at the left side, close to the floppy eject hole...

MAC SE FDHD Floppy Cover with activity LED

I lift up my hand, if you do that, please let me know. I have the top floppy cover in my SE, I'll check it out if I can remove it. Then I can give measures for 3D modelling with detailed pictures.

Using HFS disk directly on a modern computer

No, sadly, not. It will work only with SuperDrives (and with the 1.44MB USB floppy drives). It is in the original text, maybe I will highlight it. The 400KB or 800KB drives are completly different - they're changing the rotation speed based on the sector where the read/write head is. In this was...

    Floppy Transit Protector

Yes, in one of the earlier state - this project is already few years old. I don't have 3D printer, one of my very good friend printed few versions. I am still working on it, the back side is not ready yet. It is a low prio project, made in SketchUp Free. ((( I don't like Fusion 360, it is "too...

Restoration: Macintosh SE with Water Damage

Don't you guys with the heavy water damaged classics, think about to do some repaint, or colour cover on the metal structure? I am continously thinking how cool would it be to have some fancy modern colour or exactly the oposite, some mated dark gray or black...

Using HFS disk directly on a modern computer

Modern mean: Big Sur, Montery - latest Intel based Macs and the latest M1 Macs. Of course if you have a G4 iMac or PowerMac G4 then the same USB floppy disk drive will work as fine for HFS disks under Mac OS 9.2.2.

    Unstable Mac SE

Don't we have somebody here, maybe @Kai Robinson, who know the exact SE memory specifications?

Using HFS disk directly on a modern computer

There are lot of ways nowadays to move files between vintage Macintosh and modern OSes like the actual, unix based macOS 12, Monterey. You can use lot of different solution to use SD cards like harddisks (SD2SCSI, MacSD, blueSCSI, RaSCSI, etc) or use the SD card like a floppy (e.g.: Floppy Emu)...

    Unstable Mac SE

In my opinion, if it works with the stock RAM, then probably no issue on the ADB nor with hidden connection breaks (warming up could cause problems). Try with a known good 1MB RAM modules. ...and stress test it with the stock RAM sticks... I would build it back to the "normal" state (back in...

Macintosh Portrait Display Repair - Smearing/Pulsing Image on Screen

Amazing! This is again a good example to change the old capacitors can bring back the life into "any" old electronic devices. One day, I had a talk with @JDW, and his opinion: "recap'em all". Here we go. Good job, 60+ capacitors... (y)

Viewing photos requires being logged in - prevents archiving

There will be board meeting soon, @Branchus, @eric, @Stephen - the archiving reason could be a good point to let semi-downsized image available for non-registred/not-loggedin visitors. Bigger than the thumbnail previews but smaller than the original/fullsize image. Thank you in advance.

Switzerland as option for Trading Posts (and debate about "Europe")

Both of you are right. . . . There are few countries from the geographical Europe who are not member of the European Union. If we would like to "remind" people inside/outside from UK - because of the new customs regulation, we should do a group like "Europe" and we know who is in EU and who...

    Unstable Mac SE

If you are planning to check the logic board outside from the houseing, you could use hairdryer to warm up the board without overheating it. (I had a Plus - probably thousands of working hours in it - with similar freezing effects. I used hairdryer to partially heat the logic board. Finally, I...

SE/30 volume not adjustable after logic board recap

SUCCESS! After checking all the outcoming lines from UE10, then I catched a disconnected Pin between UE10 Pin-33 and UB10 Pin-4 (and UB11 Pin-4). Repairing it with air-wire, then we have all 3 Pins of UB10 (Pin31, Pin32 and Pin33) connected to both UB10 and UB11 (Pin-2, Pin-3 and Pin-4) ...and...
