    Tinker Different 2024 Calendar Competition

As much as I'd like to include one of my Macs, I think I have to go for this gem. It's a 1950's vintage telephone from Ericsson - the Ericofon, or colloquially known as the "Cobra" for obvious reasons. In the early runs these were available in 18 different colours, but by the end of the 50's the...

    Tinker Different 2024 Calendar Competition

I have so many to choose from it's hard choosing two... I think I need to start with these guys though.. they look amazing, and sound even better. And in <redacted>'s words... "Our best co-branded product ever". These are first gen - you can tell as they have the actual Apple logo on them...

    Micron Xceed SE/306-48

Thanks for that. I have the 2.01 control panel now. Might be time to throw it in my SE/30 and see (ha!) what happens... I picked up a LC III with 14" Apple monitor yesterday, so it should plug straight into the card (the monitor, not the LC III).

    Macintosh Portable horror story

I have a charging stand if you need any measurements - but they're not exactly a complicated bit of engineering. There is a button that gets depressed when the battery is in place - I've not looked inside but I'm guessing it doesn't do much more than disconnecting the charge pins when there's no...

    Micron Xceed SE/306-48

I've just picked up one of these 8-bit colour cards for the SE/30 and am looking for any documentation anyone might have.. a bit of searching turned up an internal Micron design document, but I can't seem to find any user level doco. Also I note that "Gamba" had a site with the various pieces of...

    Macintosh Portable Battery Adapter

I just made my own. You don't need anything fancy honestly... this went into my Portable over the weekend for the first time and it works a treat. A sheet of PCB, two holes for the wires, and then I hacked the copper down the middle like a caveman! :)

    Apple/Bose Roommate Speakers

Actually someone sent me some doco and I’ve got them apart. Should be an easy repair to the AC line. The logo rotates so you can mount them vertically as well.

    Apple/Bose Roommate Speakers

Has anyone had experience with these Bose/Apple Roommate speakers? The guy I got them off said the power had been intentionally disconnected “internally” (110V input only and I’m in Australia with 240V) - but he didn’t know any more. There is no obvious screws to take them apart, and I’d hate to...

    Macintosh Portable horror story

Wow! Never seen that before! Can you take some more photos, including the reverse side of the board? There's a 5120 display on eBay right now...

    vision pro

This is what the Mojo Vision guys were working on, and showed an initial prototype.. unfortunately they've realised it was too adventurous and have killed that "vision" and pivoted the company to micro LED displays. A large number of the team involved with the contact lens project sadly have...

Mac Plus internal SCSI PCB released

It's detected as a 3-layer board for me, but a quick look at it and I can't see why it needs 3 layers...

    Random Mac Classic failure

You should be able to test those switches without removing them from the board. Sounds like a stuck switch from your description though, but a continuity test will confirm..

    Rust never sleeps

@JDW covered this topic in one of his SE Reloaded build videos.. I've done similar in other hobbies, and as an aside if you decide you want to do some zinc chromate plating I can hook you up! :)

Reproduction RAM cards for Mac Portable

OK, thanks. I've got a M5120 so I can forget the wire. Sounds like I can leave the jumpers as they are also and just use the Portable system install and it should be golden..
