The 630 board cleaned and recapped with tantalums.
Actually it did surprise me that there where already
quite a few small tantalums on the board.
Only nine of the „old“ type condensors.
Looking at the available spaces on the board.
I suspect that when there was sufficiënt space,
the Apple engineers used electrolitics caps.
Anyhow this went well.

Next I need to get the cable loom in order🛠

Well, there are a lot of connections.
Its a similar sort of connector as with the
color classic (may have different pinlayout though)
Removing it is not my idea of funny.

The only reason I can think of for removing that connector would be upgrading a TAM for greater expansion card compatibility via 6400 infusion. Daydreaming there would be installing TEMPOtrio in the PCI slot for much faster, kosher ATA interface to SSD on top of its USB/FireWire baseline TAM upgrade capacity.

One day I'll get around to pitting 50MHz/craptastic IDE performance with 40MHz/ATA support to see how the benchmarks fall. Figuring disk access will trump 25% bus clock bump for some applications?

That is interresting for sure on the basic 630 level.
If at least I get the 630 into working order again……🌼
Then IDE boot can be compared with internal and external SCSI boot, aswell other speedtests?

Tempotrio? PCI?
Never seen that.

That's been tested, IDE vs. SCSI benchmarks are a wash in the 630. If anything IDE wins out by a hair IIRC, but that would be disk performance, unrelated to interface performance I think? CF/Adapter trumps all. ;)

Just so, TAM/6400 upgrade tangent popped up when removing the edge connector from your 630 board was suggested. That's the only reason I can think of to ever do that. Silly notion, wiring loom/MoBo drawer connection is the bombe for any other purpose.

Off Topic 🤣 ...anyway, I found one on AMZ UK, so apols for the distraction & @Trash80toG4, no need to reply. 😀

Back "on" topic... I think I have 3 complete SE/30 cases + "guts" from badly battery-bombed but good cosmeticly purchases. I also have a Performa 630 (as well as a very mustard 6400) that could be donors for one of these. Are you planning on making any of these parts for purchase?? If so, I'm happy to join the queue! Great project!

Hey @mg.man
Compliments appreciated!
Apols not needed…
I did get my CF -IDE adapter from Ebay years ago, and use it on my P200 board under DOS.
Its very conveniant!

3 - SE/30 boards,… thats great for parts to a rebuild on a new board-PCB👍
Dont ewaste them!

I am not aware of a queue, but if there are more members attracted to this solution, do let me know✅
For now its a side project, experiment.
Just to see where it goes/what other additional problems to solve in the process.

...and... I do have a 3D printer, so it'd be interesting to see if your 'chassis' could be modelled up so that it could be printed - perhaps in sections / individual panels?
