"Platinum" PLA for Macs and Apple ][s

I definitely will join the next group buy. Been doing a lot of research and there's no other PLA that gets close to this color.
Painting is a good option, but only if you are not going to use that piece. I have several painted parts and they are no match.

Suppose one wants to print in white and then paint or dye with matching color. Is that another approach that works well?

You can do this, yes. Just get paint in the same color code: RAL 7044. The paint isn't cheap, though.

@MacintoshLibrarian, RAL 7044 is #B9B5AB. @jcm-1 posted #BFBCB1. Those are not the same, so I am not sure how close #BFBCB1 is to the "platinum" color that Apple used for Apple IIGS, platinum Apple IIe, and many Macs.

Did someone post how #BFBCB1 compares?

#B9B5AB (RAL 7044 / silk grey by colorFabb) and #BFBCB1 (PolyTerra by Polymaker, LLC) are very similar! The PolyTerra is a tad lighter.

I look forward to @MacintoshLibrarian's 3D print samples and pictures to compare in different lighting schemes.

I've ordered some of this filament and will be testing it very soon. WOOT

This is a comparison by Adobe. As you can see, the values of those two colors herein are very close by a few integers.

Here are the photos of the PolyTerra Muted White Filament hex #Bfbcb1.

I printed out a bunch of little Apple IIe's and placed them next to a bunch of platinum mac stuff.

This color matches most of the Apple platinum components such as the the mice and the floppy drive very well.
The biggest color difference is in the 3rd photo comparing the Color Classic I/O panels to the new PLA.
This is a very close match - not 100% but this is very very very close.
