    What's your oldest working battery?

My 1986 IIGS' battery - soldered in - was still good. I replaced it anyway, but I think that's the oldest CMOS I have. For rechargeable, my ThinkPad T20's battery (2000) will still take a charge, but doesn't last more than 15 minutes, so I'm not sure if that counts.

QuickTake 100 - proactive maintenance required?

I have a QuickTake 100 that's working nicely, but I was wondering if there's a need to open it up and do some preventative maintenance? Has anyone taken one of these apart?

BASIC Coding Train guy does some Applesoft BASIC

I've enjoyed this guy's videos in the past (especially for p5.js and JSON / REST API fun stuff) - and he released a video of him recreating one of his popular challenges in Applesoft BASIC on a ][+, and it's pretty fun as he talks through his process: PS - does it make sense to have a BASIC...

ThinkC [Study Group 0] Getting your Development Environment Setup & Hello, World!

I can help with this if you want, as I am, it turns out, a web developer. I've already done it in my adaptation of System.css into a WordPress theme (in the works, but the menu behaviour is done):

ThinkC [Study Group 0] Getting your Development Environment Setup & Hello, World!

I didn't really pick up on that as it seems to be holding you by the hand just to get this first app up and running. I expect the book will flesh things out a bit more as we go. But yeah good point - it's super helpful (necessary even?) to have a language reference like K&R alongside a primer...

ThinkC [Study Group 0] Getting your Development Environment Setup & Hello, World!

I'm set up on a IIci, but @pfuentes69 has me re-evaluating... 😄 Anyway, getting set up and going through the first two chapters was pretty painless - I was up and running with @Mu0n 's resource kit in just a few minutes, and Chapter 2 has very gentle slope. While I have some coding background...

[Idea] Macintosh 68k Programming Study Group?

I love this idea! I'm not sure how much I'd be able to keep up during the semester, but I'm definitely interested.

    PowerBook 165c

C6 and C3 have been known to leak, but the others are all polymer and should be ok. Aren't there display caps, like seven of them?

    Apple Disk ii Woes

Do you have another drive you can swap parts with? If so, I'd suggest swapping each of the four IC's from the non-working drive's analog board into the working drive to see if the symptoms follow. The symptoms you describe aren't familiar to me, so it could theoretically be one (or more) of...

How were the PowerBook 1xx bags?

Here's a photo of a (kinda worn) Apple-branded Targus bag, which looks a lot like the multi-colored one shown above: Lots of storage, good padding, fits PB's like a glove. A note on the thinly-padded grey bags that are being shared in this thread - those are IIc bags, and are far too big...

    Tunnel vision on PB170

Sorry - just updated my post... the non-backlit, not sure about the backlit.

    Tunnel vision on PB170

The Portable's screen is a Hosiden HLR1010-10-1101 (the 5120, not sure about the 5126)

    Tunnel vision on PB170

A note about the manufacturer and models of the active matrix displays: I made this sheet for my own sanity a while ago from a variety of sources (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X8plTnUiV5LqivLNmgp1AVmidFf4CoNkQ-_IOl7u-MA/edit?usp=sharing), and based on Apple's own tech docs it would...

fwiw I really appreciate the thoroughness of your posts - super informative!

Mac Plus Faint "Click Click" Sound from Analog Board

I think this leads from the observation that the red-labeled drive (MFD-51W-x) has this issue but the black-labeled drive (MP-F51W-x) does not. In other words, it probably should say "replace the drive with something other than MFD-51W-03." I haven't tested this myself, just going off what...

    Toshiba T4600C - capacitor identification

Thanks! Yeah, especially since the 10uF/16V caps on this same board (the black ones there) follow that convention. Just needed that verification (even 80%)

    Toshiba T4600C - capacitor identification

This question isn't actually device specific, but I don't see a forum for general component questions - so here it goes. I need to recap a Toshiba T4600C, and there are quite a few of those plastic-encased electrolytics... the values of most of them are obvious, but one type is not (at least to...

Mac Plus Faint "Click Click" Sound from Analog Board

Do the machines operate normally otherwise? Some Pluses do this, I believe it's dependent on the drive installed. It's considered normal operation and nothing to worry about ---- is the drive installed a MFD-51W-03?

⚡︎ Mac Plus Analog board outputting only 4v instead of 5v [SOLVED]

Another one! Yes - I've never seen the sockets on NA boards, but I've heard of them being on International boards. Certainly makes troubleshooting / fixing easier.

    Apple IIc Logic Board Problem

Booting without the keyboard will display a test pattern. EDIT: Further clarification... later ROM versions would run a diagnostic test if you booted without the keyboard attached, but 255 ROM's don't do this... instead it just runs a cycling test pattern that doesn't really tell you...
